AVENTURINE.
The Winner
Aventurine is The Stone of Opportunity, even its name denotes luck. In the 18th Century, there was a very “lucky” discovery of aventurine glass (goldstone) and thus the name Aventurine derived from the word “a ventura,” which means “by chance” in Italian. The luckiest of crystals, it is a totem for good luck, wealth, prosperity, abundance, successful risk-taking, and unlocking potential. It is used by spiritual practitioners as a deeply healing crystal by unblocking energy pathways. It represents nature, new life, regeneration and emotional peace.
Aventurine is a type of quartzite (compacted Quartz grains) that forms in a “massive” habitat (big rocks). You don’t see individual Quartz structures within the rock however, the mica particles it contains give it a beautiful silvery optical reflectance effect called “aventurescence,” or in other words, it's kind of sparkly.
There is a vast array of colours of Aventurine, each with their own unique additional properties:
Green Aventurine
You will most commonly come across Green Aventurine, the majority of which is mined in India although there does appear to be a large amount coming out of China recently. The green and green-blue colours of Aventurine come from Chrome-rich fuchsite (a type of mica) which creates a glittery, silver effect.
Green Aventurine is considered to be the luckiest crystal bringing the bearer good fortune and deep healing.

Blue Aventurine
Blue Aventurine is mainly mined in Brazil and Russia. The source of its pure blue colour is much disputed and it is often confused with low-grade Dumortierite tumbles.
Blue Aventurine is aligned with mental wellness and psychic channelling. It is a lower vibe more measured crystal, promoting confidence, and quiet strength.
Red Aventurine
Red Aventurine is somewhat harder to find with most sources in India, France, Spain, Brazil, and South Africa. Iron causes the red colour in Red Aventurine, and sometimes creates interesting purple and pink varieties. It is sometimes referred to as Red Muscovite but it is also often incorrectly labelled as Strawberry Quartz which is a different crystal altogether.
Red Aventurine is additionally believed to help overcome trust issues by releasing emotional pain, deepening intimate relationships, and promoting courage, and independence.

Orange Aventurine
Orange Aventurine is created by inclusions of Hematite and Goethite and is usually found in Spain, Russia and Chile, along with less common brown, yellow and grey varieties.
Orange Aventurine is aligned to the Sacral Chakra, allowing you to control your willpower, become more focused, and unlock your creative juices. It is also the ultimate crystal for raising your vibration.
Yellow Aventurine
Yellow Aventurine is a less common variety with its colour coming from Goethite and Iron and is usually mined in Brazil and India.
Yellow Aventurine is connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra. It is a very positive stone, elevating your thinking, attracting new friendships, and inviting joy into your life. A perfect booster of your self-worth.

Buyer’s Guide to Aventurine
Private Buyers
You can’t go wrong with a nice tumbled Green Aventurine. Keep one in your bra, pocket or money purse to draw good luck and abundance to you. You shouldn’t expect to pay more than €/$1-3 for a small stone. If you want something for your home to direct positive energy into the space then an XL freeform/flame/polished piece works well, as do XL cubes and pyramids if you are feng shui’ing your home. Look for a good colour, glassy polish, and some sparkle (aventurescence).
If you are looking for something a bit more special my personal favourite would be Red Aventurine, the good quality ones seem to have exponentially more sparkle than the other colours. Yellow Aventurine is hard to come by but it is an excellent high-vibe crystal for those aiming to increase their vibration on the daily with something other than Clear Quartz. You can usually find a decent selection of these on Etsy.
Buying Blue Aventurine can be tricky - I’ve seen dyed pieces, both Sodalite and low-grade Dumortorite mislabeled as Blue Aventurine, so proceed with caution. Look for the aventurescence sheen caused by mica particles if you get the chance to shop for this stone in person.
Retail Buyers
Green Aventurine will always sell well both in a retail store and a webshop. Anything larger than palm size will take longer to sell so stick to pocket-sized tumbles or palm stones for a good margin and quick turnover. Flame shapes are a good choice if you want to stock something a little larger. The bulk lots will generally come from India or China. If you are looking to validate your supply chain this may be easier done with Indian vendors who may do a mine tour via Instagram video chat for you.
Red Aventurine looks great and is easiest found as tumbles which make a great addition to your curation if you are looking to deviate from the common Green Aventurine. Pink Aventurine is lovely but is harder to source and you would do better stocking Pink Lepidolite tumbles, they are super sparkly, ideal for anxiety, and thus sell exceptionally well. There is less demand for the other colours of Aventurine so only take on the whole colour palette if you wish to sell them aligned to Chakras or you like to sell niche tumbles.
For such a relatively low-cost crystal there is quite some nonsense you can encounter when you are trying to purchase it. Green Aventurine is sometimes called Indian Jade and Australian Jade, but this is intentionally misleading, confusing Green Aventurine for the much more expensive Jade. If you are trying to buy Blue Aventurine beware of being sold dyed crystals, or mislabeled Sodalite, Blue Calcite, and low-grade Dumortorite. Sourcing Yellow Aventurine you may encounter mislabeled Calcite, Aragonite and again dyed crystals. Basically, buyer beware, and always check for the aventurescence.
