Copper is a metaphysical key. Highly conductive this element facilitates the smooth flow of energy between the physical and astral being. Copper is a native element and is thought to be the first metal used by humans which would have taken place during the early Neolithic period around 8000 BC. The name itself derived originally from the Greek word “Kyprios,” meaning “of Cyprus” which is where large amounts of Copper were found.

The Egyptians later combined Copper with Tin to create the alloy Bronze and today Copper is used widely for electrical wiring, pipes, and cookware. Native Copper is mined around the world but Keweenaw in Michigan, USA, to date has the largest deposits. Other locations are Russia, Bolivia, the UK, Australia and Arizona in the US.

Private Buyers

When you are buying Copper it depends on what you plan to use it for. Specimen collectors could aim for a piece of natural copper in its unusual tree-like form or crystalline Copper on a Quartz matrix looks great as part of any mineral collection. If you are buying it to use for spiritual practices then; small nuggets work for crystal grids; spheres for witch work and elixirs (easier to clean and dry); or Copper wire if you are making a resin pyramid Orgone. For decoration then you can pick up a nice piece of smelted Copper which always makes the most amazing paperweights or coffee table curiosity.


Retail Buyers

In terms of Copper for wholesale or retail, it can be expensive and a bit niche. If you have a spiritual store then usually just some mini Copper nuggets (smelted) that can work for crystal grids would suffice. If you are buying for a crystal and mineral store then raw specimens work or larger smelted pieces but this is something you won’t sell massive quantities of so limit your holding stock.

Crystal Elixir: Copper is not ideal for making crystal elixirs. Copper is technically toxic but safe for up to about 1.3 milligrams per day. Copper doesn’t like water too much, if you don’t dry it properly after use it will oxidise leaving green buildup. So if you wish to use Copper for a crystal elixir or as a drinking vessel, make sure you maintain your Copper well.

Crystal Care: Copper can be cleaned in warm soapy water but it's best to dry it straight away with a soft cloth. If you leave it to air-dry then it will get water marks on the surface and is more likely to lose its luster or build up green surface oxidisation.
