FADEN QUARTZ.
Master Healer
Faden Quartz is a potent little crystal, brimming with energy and high vibrations. This is not a calming crystal! Faden Quartz is thought to be a “master healer” due to its ability to self-heal and transmit its energy with ease. It is both grounding and ethereal, connected to both the Root and the Crown Chakra, helping you tap into your natural telepathic abilities. Faden Quartz is frequently favoured by energy healers to repair auras and to make psychic connections, but it is a fussy little madam and prefers to be cleansed properly between uses. You will hear a lot about healing when researching Faden Quartz but I also think it’s about personal power, growth, and confidence. If it can crack and heal then it can guide you on that path too.
Faden Quartz is a tabular form of Quartz with flat crystals, often with a horizontal termination. Faden Quartz has white, thread-like lines running through it caused by fractures and cracks in the crystals being reformed (self-healed) by silica-rich liquid over millennia. This unique type of formation gave this variety of Quartz its name - “Faden” originating from the German word for “thread.” The main deposits of Faden Quartz are in Pakistan, Afghanistan, the US, and Brazil but you do get examples in Europe such as in Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland which are usually self-collected by rockhounds (crystal-collecting hobbyists).

Buyer’s Guide to Faden Quartz
Private Buyers
When buying Faden Quartz always check the edges and terminations for damage. This is a self-healed crystal so there may be some air bubbles or enhydros (water bubbles) in the white “healed” line inside the crystal so check for those. I usually pick pieces that have interesting crystal structures and a clear white line.
Often people buy these as interesting pendants but they are fragile despite being Quartz so if you are clumsy (like me) or are wearing other necklaces with it then this is not a good choice. Energy workers tend to lean towards long, wand-shaped crystals. If you are a specimen collector it’s probably down to the shape you prefer, the distinctness of the white line, and the region of origin (if you have a preference).
Retail Buyers
For retailers, Faden Quartz is an interesting crystal. It is relatively expensive compared to Clear Quartz and it is not as widely known so you won’t shift a lot of it. If you have a spiritual shop then pieces made into pendants sell ok and wand-shaped pieces are best to sell to Reiki pros but they need explanation cards with them. Mineral and crystal sellers will find having them on little acrylic stands for collectors makes them more appealing rather than just lying about.
