Polished Green Calcite crystal chunk

Green Calcite is a sensitive soul, nurturing growth, and encouraging you to focus on what makes you happy. It has soothing, laid-back vibes with a hint of fresh energy, a bit like a refreshing cocktail in the garden on a warm day. When we are overstimulated, rushing from one appointment to the next, sometimes we need something to make us pause and reflect on our life and daily patterns - Green Calcite is that reality check, in crystal form. It encourages personal growth through self-awareness, acceptance, learning, and change. Its clarity helps stop you from being held back and just like any good gardener, Green Calcite focuses on an abundant crop—an abundance of love, an abundance of money, and an abundance of happiness.

The Gardener

Green Calcite is a form of calcium carbonate which is an extremely common mineral. However, the beautiful green variety is a bit more challenging to find with the main sources being located in Mexico and Brazil. The green colouring comes from either chlorite or the presence of copper-based minerals during its formation. Due to its “freshness” I tend to think of it as a relatively new crystal but it has been used to make amulets and jewellry for centuries. Below is a Seal Amulet made of Green Calcite from 3500–2900 BCE, to put that into context, this is around the period when The Great Pyramids in Egypt were being built.

Buyer’s Guide to Green Calcite

Private Buyers

When you are buying Green Cacite it depends on what you plan to do with it. If you are making crystal elixirs then some cheap chunks, 1-2 EUR per piece are fine. If you want something to meditate with then a palm stone, although these are a lot harder to find. Just want a small inexpensive specimen, then a polished chunk. If you are going for something more impressive then an XL chunk makes a great value statement piece. If you prefer a bit of banding in your calcite then perhaps an Apache Calcite with a mix of various greens and browns may work better for you.

Always check for breakage and damage, calcite can be fragile and shear off along fault lines so make sure anything you buy feels “stable.”

Retail Buyers

Green Calcite should be relatively inexpensive to purchase wholesale. For bags of raw unpolished chunks only look to pay around 15 EUR per Kg. The quality will be a bit low and the contents will probably need a good wash before you sell it as it can have a rather dusty feel. It looks great in large containers in a retail store and it will sell, but customers won’t be overly thrilled with the quality they receive when buying online unless it's well-polished.

If you prefer to sell better quality then buying large slightly polished chunks or spheres will be more expensive but if the colour is good they will sell reasonably well. Look for a “waxy” finish so they feel soft to the touch.

The highest demand will be for raw small (5cm +/- wide) chunks that people can use in crystal elixirs, for the garden, or to add to collections.
